Print Quality

Every Maynila Archive print begins with a careful restoration of the original historical artwork. We work from archival sources, cleaning, correcting, and preparing each image by hand before a single drop of ink is applied. What you receive is not a scan of a scan. It is a considered reproduction, treated with the same attention we would give to the original.

Giclée Printing

All Maynila Archive prints are produced using archival giclée printing, the same technology used by museums and fine art institutions worldwide. Giclée (pronounced "gee-clay") refers to the process of applying archival pigment inks through a professional fine art printer at extremely high resolution, producing a level of detail, tonal depth, and color accuracy that no standard printing method can match.

Each print is made to order. We do not hold stock. Every piece is produced specifically for you, which allows us to maintain consistent quality across every order.

Fine Art Paper

We print on hot press fine art paper at 300 gsm. Hot press paper has a smooth, refined surface that preserves fine detail and renders color with exceptional accuracy. At 300 gsm, the paper has a substantial weight that gives each print a physical presence far removed from a standard poster.

Our paper is made from 100% cotton rag, fully acid-free and archival. Cotton fiber paper does not yellow, crack, or deteriorate over time the way wood-pulp alternatives do. It is the material of choice for museum collections and serious print studios worldwide.

Archival Inks

Our pigment inks are formulated for longevity, with fade resistance rated to exceed 100 years under normal display conditions. To achieve accurate color reproduction, the printing process uses multiple ink channels, color-profiled specifically to the paper we use. The result is a print that faithfully represents the original artwork in both tone and character.

Made to Order in the USA

Every Maynila Archive print is produced at our studio partner in the United States. Production typically takes 4 to 6 business days, after which your order is carefully packed and shipped directly to you.

We do not compromise on materials. The paper, the inks, and the process are the same regardless of the size or price of your order.
