About the Print
About the artwork
This watercolor depicts a corner view of the Casa de la Intendencia, a Spanish colonial government building distinguished by its green-shuttered second-story windows and tiled overhanging roof. Street life unfolds around the building, including vendors carrying water jars, a horse-drawn carriage, and figures in formal Western dress alongside everyday colonial attire. The work is part of the 1847 album "Vistas de las Islas Filipinas y Trajes de sus Habitantes," held at the Biblioteca Nacional de España.
About the artist
