About the Artwork

A 19th-century watercolor depicting an Igorot hunter from Mayoyao in the Cordillera region of Northern Luzon. Created by Filipino painter José Honorato Lozano, the work documents indigenous attire, weaponry, and customs during the Spanish colonial period. The piece belongs to the Tipos del País tradition, a genre that visually recorded the diverse peoples and social types of the Philippines.
